This logo was created for a Non-Profit horse farm, the Outdoor Wilderness Learning (OWL) Center, located in Louisiana for their annual “Christmas on the Farm” event. Initially, I started out by sketching eight thumbnail concepts for the logo using icons and typefaces that can be associated with farms, animals, and Christmas. The elements that I considered consisted of farm animals with Santa hats, Christmas trees, tractors, barns, owls, ornaments, and sleighs along with various types of fonts, including both detailed and a few plain fonts. Once the thumbnail concepts of logo were completed, I forwarded them to the Director of the OWL Center’s Equine Program so she could present the options to the OWL Center’s board. After deliberation, they voted to move forward with the logo thumbnail concept that consisted of a horse and sleigh with a Christmas tree which included the event name inside of an ornament; however, they requested that it contain only two colors. Using Adobe Illustrator, I redesigned the logo so that it only used two colors while ensuring the remaining elements stayed consistent with in the logo. I emailed the final draft to the Director of the OWL Center’s Equine Program to validate that it matched the board’s preferences and to determine if there were any additional desired edits. The logo that I created was approved and the director relayed that the logo exceeded the board’s expectations. After this confirmation, I emailed all of the files associated with this logo to the OWL Center’s Equine Director so that it can be used on the staff shirts or anything else related to the event.
