Unexpected
Triptych of a Tulip. For this project, we were tasked with creating a photo composite in three panels that demonstrated either past, present, and future or a continuation of the same picture. I decided to go with the past, present, and future approach using a tulip transitioning from a closed bloom to an open flower, but in an unexpected way. I started the project by taking photos and finding images on the internet that I could use as references. After finishing my research, I imported all of the photos into Adobe Photoshop and arranged them in order to create the photo that I was envisioning. Using the selection tool and the layer mask tool to remove the backgrounds of some of the photos so that I could add the flowers on top of a separate image of the grass, sky, and dirt. Once positioned, I used the clipping mask tool and blending modes to change the color of the flower, stem, rock, and dirt. Using those same tools in conjunction with the brush tool, I created shadows on the flower, stem, and rock in order to make them look more natural and less like they were composited together to create the new photo.
